Microprocessor level-crossing interlocking system

Microprocessor automatic crossing alarm (MP APS) is designed for:

  • Control of areas approaching a crossing with any type of track blocking, both automatic and semi-automatic;
  • Control of crossing signaling devices for any types of crossings located on stretches – single-track and multi-track;
  • Transmission of information about the operation of the crossing and all pre-emergency and emergency failures of the crossing alarm DSPU;
  • Preventing collisions at the intersection of a highway and a railway line at the same level.

The purpose of developing the system is to improve the safety of trains and vehicles at crossings, reduce the cost of maintenance, reduce capital investments in new construction, replace technically and morally obsolete devices SZHAT.MP APS – a system consisting of light signaling devices (railway and automobile traffic lights), acoustic signaling devices , axle counting sensors (approaching section) and control equipment, which ensures the activation of sound and light alarms when rolling stock occupies the approaching section.

Microprocessor-based automatic crossing alarm provides:

  • Control of automatic traffic light signaling;
  • Notifying the driver of the railway rolling stock about the possibility of proceeding through the crossing;
  • Notifying road users about the opening or closing of a crossing for vehicle traffic;
  • Notifying pedestrians about the approach of rolling stock to the crossing area;
  • Monitoring the availability of rolling stock in the crossing area using elements of the electronic axle counting system by superimposing it on existing coded control centers, which eliminates refusals to submit a notification about the approach of a train to the crossing when insulating joints on signal installations come off during coded automatic blocking;
  • Monitoring the condition of technical equipment.

MP APS is designed taking into account traffic safety requirements, has safe information input/output circuits and sufficient noise immunity in the communication channel. Security is ensured by software and hardware based on self-diagnosis, information encoding and the use of self-checking circuits. For communication between the MP APS and station equipment, a physical signaling line, a trunk communication line, a fiber-optic communication line (FOCL) or a radio channel can be used. The MP APS refers to class of low-maintenance systems and requires verification using a visual indication only upon initial power-up. It performs continuous self-testing, monitoring the health of input and output circuits and communication lines. Any malfunction of the MP APS elements or failure in operation transfers it to a state of protective failure and closure of the crossing.

Economic efficiency of the implementation of MP APS:

  • Reducing costs for capital construction, installation and maintenance of monitoring devices, reducing relay consumption;
  • The use of system counters allows you to reduce operating costs and losses from theft of copper-containing materials.
