On September 5-6, 2012, a meeting of managers and specialists of the Signaling and Communication Services of the CIS metropolitan countries was held in Kyiv within the framework of the International Metro Association.

The next annual meeting of the Metro Association in 2012 was held in Kyiv, and was dedicated to the diagnosis and analysis of the operation of subway automation devices. Representatives of the Signaling and Communications Services of 11 CIS metros from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Georgia visited the capital’s metro stations and electric depots, familiarized themselves with the existing signaling systems and methods of managing them.

Traditionally, the meeting was attended by leading Ukrainian and Russian companies producing automation and communication systems for subways. Among them is the RWA company, which equipped six stations of the Kyiv metro with microprocessor control systems, one of them was the “Exhibition Center” station of the Kurenevsko-Krasnoarmeyskaya line. That is why in the section of the meeting “Experience in implementing microprocessor systems in subways” the main speakers were representatives of RWA: Dmitry Kuzmenko, general director of the company and Andrey Pilipenko, chief engineer of RWA projects.

During the two-day symposium, metro specialists exchanged experience in managing and operating signaling and communication systems in their cities, especially emphasizing the need to adhere to technological standards that would allow signaling and communication systems to become as “open” and accessible to users as possible, allowing metro operating services to independently diagnose and develop. The meeting participants reviewed the required technological standards using the example of solutions that were implemented by RWA in the Kiev and Kharkov metro.
